How do I remove the window winder?

Help!
I've bought some heated truck mirrors for my T3 and I want to plan the cable routing before I fit them but I can't see how the window winder handle comes off. I can't find anything on the wiki, YouTube or other forum threads.
Do I remove plastic centre cover (with or without the silver ring?) or does the whole outer cover somehow come off? I'm beginning to damage the handle so I would like some advice.

The center disc without the silver comes out then there is a screw underneath.

You might find that as with mine, the full plastic cover lifted away from the larger end, still held at the thin handle end, just enough to gently bend out of the way to allow a screwdriver to be used. I thought at first that the plastic would snap but it held and refitted cleanly.

Then you find some pillock chewed up the screw in the past. With luck it'll be straightforward. What ISN'T straightforward is fitting a winder mecanism - right faff that is.... :D

When you view this picture, imagine the top round part (ie, at end furthest away from the bit you grab when you wind windows) as a clock face. The handle comes out at 6 o'clock. therefore at 3 and 9 o'clock there is a small 'tab' which stick out and effectively click into behind the metal part as you push the handle cover back into place. So to remove the cove per this picture, to expose the cross head screw, you need to put a tool (I used a teaspoon!) under 3 or 9 o'clock and pull outwards and towards you, and cove will pop off (but stay attached at the winder end). Hope this makes sense...?

Thanks to ZsZ - I had a go at removing the handle earlier this afternoon and after a few minutes and sore fingers I got the cover off as per your picture and saw the tabs as mentioned by fairwynds.
