Hi

I have an LPG tank where the spare wheel would normally go, I am after some storage solutions ideas I have come up with are as follows, and views tips would be great, the cheapest solution would be best. I have a Fiamma bike rack I would like to carry on using.

On roof: not sure if would fit on autosleeper high top and worried about weigh high up etc

Rear rack http://www.vw-t3-bus-shop.de/eng/syncro ... right.html not sure this would fit with the bike rack?

On a tow bar mount- would have to fit tow bar not sure if it would fit with bike rack http://www.bak-rak.com/spare-wheel-rak.htm

that spare tyre holder looks good especially at that price,may be a problem with the rear ladder on an autosleeper,bummer

Bit too expensive for me .
I was thinking of a rack for the back door but decided against it due to weight.
Still thinking about a toyota hilux carrier off ebay and modding it to fit.

I have the same issue. I tend to carry one or two of those puncture tyre inflator cans that fill the wheel with gunk and a tyre inflator/mini compressor.

My only problem will be if I split a tyre.

Apparently One type of those 15" Merc "super space saver" wheels (LINK) fits a T25 hub. I keep meaning to get one OK for an emergency <30mph job I reckon. (note = Mercs are NOT light cars ) I am currently working on the fact that in 10 years of T25 ownership, I have never yet had a puncture (was I stupid enough to just write that )

Still haven't decided what to do! Another option might be to try and adapt the wardrobe (any tips or suggestions would be welcome) so the spare wheel could be stored in the bottom of there, as we don't use it that much. I thought about carrying the spray can thing but then read in the terms of my breakdown I have to carry a legal spare tyre.

My spare is in the autosleeper's wardrobe with a rangerover cover on it. There is still about 10" of space above and all the tools are in there.
I had a puncture in our skoda superb ( no spare) 50 miles in to a 250 mile journey TODAY, it cost us 2 1/2 hrs. Not fun!
I'm happy with the spare in the wardrobe.

Mine will be going on my Hitop roof as soon as the interior is finished. Ive reinforced the existing 'ribs' in the roof moulding from both inside and outside, so hope to have a very strong base to work on.... In meantime, I also have the spray gunk stuff on board!

Our "other van", now sold, was the one that had the LPG tank where the spare wheel was (our "main" van has it where the wardrobe usually is). After I decided to opt for the spare wheel location for the LPG tank on that van, it occurred to me that if I ever needed to get at the heater valve / pipes, or the gear lever bottom end linkages etc, it would involve taking the tank out = no small job.

Thanks for the tips I think I will go with the wardrobe, although I will have to adapt the door to get the wheel in.

I cut the rear panel out of the wardrobe, then made a new one and screwed it on. I've always got a screwdriver in the van.

I think that's what I will do, Hopefully I won't ruin the wardrobe! Thanks for all the help.
