DJ engine refurb

Hi, my DJ engine has done about 90k miles (as far as I can tell) but is now dribbling a small amount of coolant from the heads and the exhaust is on it's last legs. So I'm going to bite the bullet and get the leaks fixed and replace a shiney new SS exhaust. I'm going to get someone to do the work for me, but I was wondering if it would be advisable to get them to do anything else while the engine is this dismantled.

I'm not desperate to spend my money, but I'd sooner try and get it right first time.

Any advice welcome.

Cheers.

fitting a new gasket will stop the leaks but unless the pitting on the gasket faces is sorted out ...not for long

two ways.. if the pits are not too deep then a skim will do it.
Otherwise you can fill the pit holes with JB weld or any other product like that, then wipe the excess off leaving the pit holes full and a nice flat mating face

Cheers, I guess it's best to decide once the heads are off.
