Benn, If I was you I'd simply support the engine with a decent block of wood and a good strong safe jack, then remove the support bar/brace to fit the mountings.(all done from the underside)

cheers fritz that was my first thought but i was a bit worried of putting so much weight on one point of the engine, i will have to try and spread the load a bit.

Ben...bit of a tip.spread the weight on the trolley jack point by fixing an old flywheel or wooden disc to it (bolted centrally) to take the weight and protect the casing a bit. I've done this in the past and it works.

thats a good tip, ill do that. its been raining all weekend so havent had the chance to do it yet, so ill have to do it next weekend. also relised that i need four engine mount and ive only bought three and im going to have to take the exhaust off as its one of those fancy twin pipe thingys. so what was a 1hr job has just turned into a 3hr job. nice.
