Quick question,
Will a 45 amp Bosch alternator with W terminal in diesel engine be able to run a diesel 2,39 power steering VDO rev counter?

Cheers

Nick

lots of factors - size of battery , running time , running speed , wiring condition , power loads

but yes it will be ok if a standard battery is fitted and you do lots of driving without everything switched on!

a bigger alt will be able to help charge better if your only doing short journeys or using electrics a lot

you may need to swap some wiring , tho quite simple if you swap to a 90 amp or larger

Thank you for your reply. Sorry maybe i should of asked the question in a better way.

I have fitted the factory rev counter and blue pcb. I have the correct wiring present, green wire from cockpit to engine bay then red and black to alt w terminal. I have tried altering the pot on the rev counter but not joy. I was try to ask if the signal from the alt would power the rev counter i.e make it move. Sorry after reading the op i can see how it could of been interpreted the way you answered it.

cheers

Nick

ok

yes w terminal is a output before the rectifier . so what ever size alternator the pulse will be relevant to engine speed rather than power output , or

yes no problem if wired up correctly
