Hi guys

The lights which illuminate my dash speedo has never work and currently I have a separate switch which I use to turn on my dual cig lighter socket and some led lights which light the speedo. As you can imagine this is not ideal.

Is there I way I can wire some new lights and incorporate the head light switch into the circuit so that when I turn the headlights on the dash speedo is lit.?

Please bear In mind that my electrical knowledge is not great so feel free to explain to me in idiots terms.

Have you given up getting the lights in the dash working as they should?

If you do want to go the route of adding new/additional lights - if you pull the cover off the dash pod so that you can see the back of the headlight switch and find the gray/blue wire - that is the wire that carries a variable voltage signal for the dimmable dash lights (the voltage is dependant on how far you twiddle the little rotary wheel under the headlight switch).
Attach a wire to this gray/blue wire, take that wire to one side of your new bulb and then take a wire from the other side of the bulb to ground (i.e. a metal part of the van).
If you don't want the light to dim with the rotary switch (i.e. you just want your light to be on full whenever the lights are on) then find the gray wire on the back of the headlight switch and use that in place of the gray/blue wire.
