WBX Head Erosion with pics

Just bought a DG engine for the heads and having stripped it I find erosion around the valves.
I know this engine had a head seal failure because the sump was full of water and somebody had done a very bad job of changing the head seals (only changed the water jacket seal, no sealant and no new compression seal or o-rings
)
Anyway on inspection these heads have erosion around the valves and spark plug. I think the one in the second pic is useable and the third maybe, looking at the cracked head I cut open the valve seats go back far enough I think to save these, what do you think?
So I did a google search and apparently a head gasket failure can cause this erosion, I assume the water turns to steam and eats the aluminium, anybody know more about this? somebody must have seen it before?
I have seen this before on a second hand head I bought which was so bad it's only good for a door stop but didn't know why at the time.
a head as it should be with perhaps a small crack in between the valves, not much problem there.

some erosion on this but not too bad.

this one is worse what do you think?

cut my head open shows the depth of the valve seats and aluminium...

this one I bought as a spare head is definately a doorstop...
