Ventilation when sleeping

In the syncro forum, on pages 7 & 8 of the 'Campervan Culture Africa special' thread there is a short discussion about methods of ventilating the van during the night - ie when you are asleep and want everything shut for maximum security.
One of the suggestions was to put vents through from the inside into the rear corner 'snorkel' trunking behind the louvred external vents. Has anyone done this? If so, does it work effectively? Is there any noise when driving? Would it need a fan (pc cooling fan?) in the grille/vent to draw air in through the cab heater ducting and blow it out at the back?
We already have a glass sunroof in the middle of the van but, especially in the summer, this needs blacking out to avoid early morning wake-ups.
Any other suggestions for a tin-top van?
thanks

I have in the past fitted the round fresh air vents from fjord tranny dashes in to this with the controls on the inside, reason was to duct cool air in to the back bit where my dog was garaged

I have the jk ones in the front and made some for the sliders
Same principle as the jk ones but a piece of metal is needed in the slider channel to stop somebody just sliding it open
The ones in the pic are for uk and live in all year round to keep the van ventilated only come out when driving in heavy rain
I have a pair twice the size for France

I made a tailgate stand off bracket.....which basically props open the tailgate by a few inches, not enough to get a hand through but enough for ventilation. Completely secure as once fitted the tailgate is locked and there is no access to the bracket. Great for when it's hot as you get a nice breeze where you want it.

Ahh yes made one of those aswell
The only problem is kind souls keep telling you that you left your tailgate open and you have to explain its meant to be like that

I have these. They are really good and permanently in situ in my van for ventilation (apart from when driving). They are strong metal, actually look good too and are worth the price tag in my opinion

Thanks for all these responses. Some good ideas there.

Any chance of some close up photos and details of how you made these, please? Do you use them when driving or only when parked?
thanks
