Switched live / Fan Motor /

Hello,
I'm still trying to sort out my dead fan motor.
Summary so far:
Initially my fan motor wasn't working and after a bit of troubleshooting I found 2 issues:
- 1) +ve feed was dead to the 3 speed switch, this was a black wire which doesn't come off fuse 13, whereas the wiring diagrams shows it should be Black/Red from the Switched live (15), via fuse 13.
2) Fan motor making nasty noises and barely moving.
So I now have a new fan wired in and it works on all speeds with a direct (fused) feed off the battery with a temp cable.
I have followed the Black wire in 1) above to a loom which feeds the Webasto fuses & relays behind the glove box and other end of this loom has a connector which connects to a loom labelled 'K'.
The wiring according to Bentley is that this fan should be connected to fuse 13. I will have a look at the back of the fuse box tomorrow if it isn't raining, but if I find something else in that location where can I find the switched live (15) source so that I can run a new fused cable?
Can anyone tell me what loom 'K' is, because it disappears behind the headlights and down the front of the vehicle, so I can try and find the fuse on this link?
Here is a photo of the connector that runs to loom 'K':

What type of eber do you have?
The heater fan should get pover from A22 port, but if you have a water heater then maybe they are connected together. You should check that A22 outlet.
For answer your question: G2 and G5 ports on the back of the panel are the easiest place to get switched live. But those are unfused outlets.
Connector K is for coolant level controller loom.

ZsZ,
Sorry I don't have a clue about the eber, how can I determine what I have? All I know is that there is a water heater under the r&r bed and a second fan which works and is fed off a different circuit.
I'll have a look later today at the A22 port.
You're comment about loom K sort of makes sense but it also appears to feed the Webasto controller, so I'll also have another look at that later.

Eber is short of Eberspacher, the manufacturer of heater

I was asking if you have a water heater. Check the plate on the heater.
Checked the manual of B5W heater and it shows that the wiring of the blower should be cut and connected to a relay of the heater with a 4mm2 black wire.
But that relay should be a 5 leg one that feed the blower normally from the fuse on open. Maybe that relay (or the wire somewhere) is broken.
send me a PM with your email, and I send you the manual if you cannot find it on the net.

Thanks, I found a manual for the B5W but that doesn't seem to match what I have got. Here are photos, of the water heater and the controller:

The loom from the relays & fuses behind the glovebox runs to 2 connectors, one that goes to a connector that has 'K' on the cables and another connector that links to the Webasto controller, plus it has at least one additional spur that I can see that goes to the rear heater fan switch.
Hopefully the rain showers will pass soon so that I can get back out to have another look.

Look for the id plate on the heater - it should be easily viewable or a label displayed close with the details on if it is a kosher factory fit.
I think that you are being led up the garden path and you do have a Webasto and not an Eberspächer!!!! Try looking at the Thermotop Webastos. (just google thermotop images)

If the controller is webasto, then the heater must be same, you cannot run Eberspacher with a Webasto controller.
As I can see, the thingy what is under the metal plate is the rear heater core, the heater itself is on the outside. Follow the hoses. You should look for something like this:
Did you try the heater motor with the water heater running?
Found a webasto wiring article here:
http://canter4x4.com/technical/wiring-u ... rmo-top-c/ and a manual here:
http://www.techwebasto.com/redirect/hea ... 907512.pdf
Thinking about the way the timer works, the blower must be swithed on/off together with the heater, so I am sure that the black wire goes to the relay or central electric panel of the Webasto.

Incorrect!
The combitimer is made by Hella and is exactly the same for Eberspächer and Webasto.
I sell a lot of Webastos with Eberspächer branded combitimers.

I had a look underneath this morning but didn't see anything like a heater, next time I'll try and follow the pipes. I have a funny feeling that it has been removed and the heater core plumbed into the engine coolant system. I have the dash out at the mo, so can't test anything until I get it back in.
This has all come about because the front fan motor was dead and it has opened up a can of worms in respect of the wiring which has been modified/butchered.
I would have thought that the front fan should be wired in to fuse 13 and only the rear fan be linked into the Webasto controller. Now it's too dark to do anymore on this until next weekend, so I think that I'll probably plan on running a new +ve wire to the fusebox for the front fan, get the dash back together and go from there.
There are lots of joints and dodgy additions to the wiring, so I'll look at making good the poor work as well.

It should explain everything. If there is no heater then it wont switch the front fan

That seems odd, why would you connect the front fan motor to the Webasto controller?
In that setup it would mean that the aux heater would need to be running for the front fan to work, which in the summer would be madness.

I think both of the fans are connected to the heater. The rear will not heat up the front and the front will not heat up the rear enough in solo.

It will be connected via a relay from the Webasto timer - not permanently. The normal fan wiring and operation is not affected at all except for getting a second connection possibly if the front fan is already operating.

The front fan switch has a dead feed (black wire, it should be black/red), whereas the rear fan switch feed is live (yellow wire, I think it should be black/yellow). When I get the dash back together (and run a new cable from the switch to the fuse box just in car it is needed, I'll also check the fuse 13 wiring), I'll see what happens when the timer is set on and see if the front fan works, but I don't think it does.
