Hi All

One of my windscreen wipers has stopped working. Looks like the screw is still going round but the thread inside the wiper arm has worn down. Do I need to get new wipers or can I somehow help the arm to grip to the mechanism? If I need new wipers any recommendations on where I can get some from

hello you
you need to remove the arm then get something sharp like a big sewing machine needle/darner then use it to clean the grooves in the splines on the spindle, (the arms dont really have splines they are softish ally and the hard spindle spline sort of recuts them if you follow,
anyhows when you done this make sure the nut goes on and off freely then place arm on inj the correct position and start the nut loose, then ppress down on the arm at the spindle and tighten the nut (make sure there is a washer under the nut, nip it but dont be silly 10mm spanner
then report back

Thanks guys - the advice and the video are really helpful. I am not confident to have a go on my own but I have asked a friend to come round over the weekend. Failing that I will have to go to a garage

James you are a star - if my friend doesn't come through I will definitely take you up on your offer. The van has been brilliant apart from my driving - I oranges it on the way to a festival in August - had the roof resprayed at the same time as the bodywork was sorted so it looks great. I am going to go to the 80/90 forum meet in Swanage in April, which should be great

How is everything going with your van?

Not a problem Sandra just let us know . My van is layed up for the winter at the moment just got a bit much with no heating on the cold mornings. Was planning to get on with the welding but the weathers been against me. Just using it when we have a good weather day .
