Hi.Im just wondering if anyone has ever used either an opel 2litre inj cam in head engine or a renault 1.8 16v f7p engine in their t25?the reason im asking is I have 1 of both of these engines knocking about and im sick to the back teeth of the 1600 ct currently in the van.its never ran right despite a top end rebuild and many hours swaping carbs and adjusting the timing.thanks in advance

Well.. its a big enough job going from Aircooled to water cooled without the added complication of a not done before engine swap..
if you have a he time.. skills and or mo ey.. anything is possible.. but I would suggest a good used 2l Aircooled engine and gearbox might be a quicker and easier route.. ct gearbox will be useless for the 2l as it has such low ratios.
if yoh are determined to go watercooled.. then the gti route is prob easier and cheaper than gm/renault ption..

Seen a red top in a bus before but as matey ha said, whole can of worms.

Vw I4 engines use all the T3 diesel parts, anything else you are looking at custom adapters/input shafts/engine mounts etc etc etc so could end up throwing a fortune at it. This doesn't even include fitting water system, heater box etc etc.

If you want to go down a similar route and don't mind the work, sell the engines you have and fit a 20v. KEP etc do adaptor plates off the shelf. :ok

Thanks for all the replies.kinda guessed it would be difficult to convert using those motors but not impossible. I forgot to mention I also have a 2.2 motor from a 97 subaru legacy.i know its a common conversion but I was ruling it out due to the cost of the auxiliary parts that are needed.have the loom clocks and ecu.i didnt get the key or barrel but I dont think I would need them because it drove into the garage I got it from and it only had a key cut from a hardware shop blank.ie no chip in it.the car was a Canadian import.

I used to have a 2.0 GM motor in the back of my bay

ran it on injection , super reliable and quick!
