Ok. Just got a good deal on a fiamma f45. Won't work with the normal t3 gutter brackets. Have seen pics online of special brackets fitted to dehler hitop sides. Wondered if anyone has the same set up and can take some close ups do I can fabricate something.
Cheers

If the hi top sits on the gutter the same as a Komet then you can use the Fiamma t3 brackets I know i did it,you need to cut 2 small sections out to allow the brackets to sit down into the gutter heres a link to my build thread and how i did mine.Scroll down about half way, just take it slow and seal well worked a treat, saved screwing into the roof

there these
my local VW CLUB and MK1 owners club

These are the mounting bolts, there's 4 on each side

this is the top bolt from the inside

this is the bottom bolt from the inside

this is another van with the original dehler brackets bolted to the hitop.
I want to make these brackets.
the 1st bolt is approx 40mm above the gutter and the 2nd is 340mm from that.

Great. I've had a look, problem with Dehlers isn't the fibreglass top, it's the fibreglass panels that fit over the top half of the van.

hi ray, had a look-see, im trying to remember but the area where the bolts go through the 2 skins, well are the skins recessed so they touch in this area? what im trying to get at is as you know there is an inner and outer skin with obviously an air gap, i cant see a loose spacer going in there so need clarification.
with regard to the actual steel bracket, i would make this so that it stands slightly proud of the roof with spacers(tacked on) and i would fit a rubber strip on the side facing the roof, then a further bracket welded to the strap to receive the awning, easy to do but hard to describe, care also to be taken to ensure the awning is fixed at the correct angle else it will be well strained when extended.

Thanks Mike. The inner skin finishes above the bottom bolt and the top bolt fits the outer through a recess in the inner skin if that makes sense. There is an air gap albeit small between the 2 skins in this area.
Would be easy if I could find someone with the same set up!

yes thats as i remember it, the issue to me is not the outer parts as they are dead easy to fabricate, but as you know the roof skins are quite thin so i would want to be looking at some means of spreading the load internally , wish this had have come up whjen i had it here as it would have then been an easy fix but...............
