Hi all. Had issues over summer with battery drain. Ended up with new battery have charged it up and put it on the van. I'm doing amp test at moment and getting 2.2 amps. That's with leisure battery disconnected and the stereo fascia off. Help

i have taken the stereo plugs out the stereo and the amps dropped right down to 0.01 amp, so im guessing the stereo is to fault, is there anything i can do to stereo or is it new stereo time??

Short term solution you could just fit an in line 'kill switch' to the stereo feed...?

Read this thread, it may help you with your battery drain. Wiring in a relay is pretty easy tho I don't see the diagram anymore. There are written direction you can follow.

Hi all just fitted a mates spare battery into the original wiring and the amps pulled has dropped to 0.45a so I'm guessing that my old stereo has had it? Any recommendations for a new unit. I want three pre outs for amps to run speakers and small sub.

yes i changed the stereo to a spare one and the amps being pulled dropped from around 2.2 to 0.45 give or take.
my guess is the stereo has something not turning off inside.

Agreed, even if it was wired up wrong, with the switch off, or even on, and no loud sound from the speakers, over 2 amps is definitely wrong. Mind you, your mates stereo at .45 amps is far too high as well Most pull around 10 to 50 milliamps (.001 to .050 amps) on standby. Are you sure you are reading your meter correctly

As John says....even 0.45amps is too high...nearly half an amp drain on an 80ah leisure is only 160 hours to dead flat (all theoretical) but less than a week.....

A kill switch or something to easily disconnect the leisure or Starter battery? depending on how you have your wiring..might be a good call even if you get the drain sorted.

heres hoping i am reading the meter wrong, it not my usual one so it could defo be user error... i will check again once i have light.
