Tell me about 12v to 240v inverters

So after being constantly fed up with my LPG guy letting me down and not leaving the power on so I can fill up I've started to wonder about supplying my own power. The owner of the pump agrees and will let me come and go as I please to fill up when he's not there.
LPG pump is 1.1KW Starts on 9amp and runs on 7amp at 240v
Is there a inverter that will run that?
Failing that it will be a generator which I'm not happy with lumping around.
Thanks Rob

1.1kW is about 92A at 12v... before the inefficiencies of converting voltage. Call it a nice round 100A.
There _are_ big inverters out there, but apart from the cost of 'em (a genny's probably as cheap), you'll need some SERIOUS cables and some SERIOUS batteries if you're going to be running it whilst refuelling, with the engine off.

Also need to consider inrush current
It will be very high for a motor of that size
a genny will need to be overrated to cope with it and I think an invertor will be also
It will be much higher than the 9A for milliseconds but enough to trip it out
Cheaper to pay for the wiring to be changed at the lpg place to have an outside keyswitch

Probably cheaper still to just buy the LPG elsewhere if they've not left it on...

Good point but can be a long drive depending on where you live

Thanks for the reply! I don't understand it all but it sounds like I need a mobile power plant so I'm going to stay clear

Every where is a long drive from the Hope Valley.
Can't you find stations on your regular routes and fill up when out and about?

The van is just a work mule unless we're on holiday so unfortunately not.
I've told him to go down the switch with a key method
