Hi Guys,
I have a 5 speed gear box originally driven by a 1,6 diesel engine then the engine was changed for a 1y 1.9D engine.
Spigot bearing fitted when install but the input shaft as allot of up down side to side play.
To prevent damage to gears I want to replace the input shaft bearing and the oil seal.

Dose any one have any ideas where i can get them from ???
VW Heritage do a main shaft bearing but I don't think this is the same thing.

ADVICE Please

When the gearbox is removed, it is as designed, quite normal and OK to have side to side and up and down play in the input shaft. About 6mm each way is normal at the clutch end. When the gearbox is installed it is held central by the spigot bearing. If I understand your post correctly, it doesn't look as if you have a problem.

If the gearbox is out it is worth replacing the input shaft seal, but not if it's installed and not leaking.

Seals available from Brickwerks, JK, VW Heritage etc.

as above

there is actually no bearing on the shaft . the shaft ends before it enters a bearing . it is joined by a splined collar onto a shaft that has a bearing in the box.
the play you describe is the joining of these shafts , as said quite normal!
