Hi all im looking for some advice on which awning to buy . Preferably not to expensive easy / quick to put up just for siiting in with a couple of mates if the weather turns ( was also really interested in wind out awnings with sides etc but they seem mega expensive many thx Dan T25 1989

Has to be a kyham motordome.......standard issue for all short stay campers .

I have royal traveler driveaway awning which I purchased for 60 pounds second hand .
Its oldschool with metal frame and canvas but has stood up to some pretty bad weather, also the front can be completly rolled up. Down side is bulky and comes in two bags.

No but that's why I like it. I used to hate attaching and detaching the bloomin' thing I used to have (Royal Traveler). However, the sticky-out-arch-thing does butt right up to the door and offers protection into the van in anything but heavy rain if you want the door open. It folds down flat so sits under the mattress in the boot when travelling. Literally up and down in less than 5 minutes - a godsend in 40 degree Southern-French sun or Welsh wind and rain!

Know what you mean....the flappy bit that attaches can be a source of trouble especially with the sliding door

I have a outwell awning, really nice and sturdy, can be attached to van. Has a bed compartment, I also got the carpet for it.

Have used it twice

I had a Royal traveller it never fitted to the van well. Now have a JK own awning, fits perfect and not expensive.

I have a royal traveler and and find it very good , water proof and stands up well to very wind conditions , not the quickest to put up thou. I also have found a cheap £20 gazebo good 3m x 3m and used it last year when we went to france , light and packs down very good , downside is no sides . Loads of good options out there and at different prices. The awning was very good but the van is lowered and the awning is tall , the flaps that join it to the van never fitted neatly leaving gaps, not good in rain and strong wind.
The JK awning gives much more height adjustment. JK seem to have got this right.
