Making the van more secure ? Locks

Would like to make the van a bit more secure as at present any key opens any of the locks, this is going to be a problem if and when the van is parked up when we are out on a day trip etc (I know that windows can easily be smashed).

I was thinking padlocks obviously taking them off when driving so they don't rattle around, whilst it would look unsightly I cant think of any other way, it would be easy to fit complete new locks but with enough jiggling etc I'm sure they'd be able to be opened.

Thoughts ?

Many thanks

get your locks rebuilt / replaced.

good alarm

steering wheel lock

there are no specific extra locks for t25's so you have to do some research yourself

lots of the builders van type external locks but they look ugly.

Sorted !

On the three opening doors, rear, sliding and passenger fit Hasp & Staple on the inside out of site with padlock and on the drivers door fit a euro lock on the outside.

So if leaving the van for any length of time just secure from the inside and away you go.

Yes windows can be smashed but thats always a risk.

If I get round to fitting this in the warmer months I will resurrect this post with the odd picture !

sliding door is very easy .

i did for many years just put a biro in the latch nob hole .

you cannot unlock the door unless the inside button can lift!

but i have now designed a little latch to sort this.

tailgate / cab doors i have 'pins' in them.

simple but effective but there is always one un pinned door for access , unless im sleeping inside then there all latched!

^^^^^ made one of them myself!

not a problem , more of a deterant ,

your van will never be 100% secure and safe , but you can just make it difficult for anybody to enter / remove

a couple of years ago i did some research into extra locks ect for the van , but nothing for T25's

one company who fitted deadlocks to T4's was looking into T25's and were happy to use my van as a test vehicle , but still this was looking at 2-300£

the locks used are basically gate locks as they have a longer throw but basically similar to double glazing window locks.and you can have multiple cylinders with the same key as well as multiple keys.

i ended up running out of time to carry on with the reaserch so i ended up drilling a hole through the door and into the B pillar to which i slide a pin through . i was not sure about drilling the hole , but 4 years on and i am now happy with it and can at least leave the van or get a good nights sleep inside knowing easy access is not possible.

the sliding door has an old cupboad latch that spins down so the button will not rise

and i have a pin on the tailgate that also needs to be pulled up from inside before the tailgate can be opened (as well as the key lock)

this is all added to the other security devices fitted!

i have also made some stainless cab door handle guards to slow the old 80's vw screwdriver trick !( punch through above the barrell and the door opens silent and quick!)
Image

i also made a bracket that means the drop down flap to access the engine behind the no plate can only be opened if the tailgate is open!

im more concerned about having stuff nicked out of the van rather than it being stolen, it looks like a great device.
