Leaking into tailgate window seal

Hi guys,

I have a 1988 T25 that is leaking at the tailgate window, it seems to get into the tailgate seal and then come back out on the inside and down the door card and onto the bed.

When I open the boot and leave it there the water then leaks out at a different area at the seal, if I close it again some water leaks out inside and some outside of the seal.

Hopefully this makes sense, it seems to be leaking past the window seal or somehow just into the tailgate. The seal doesn't look that old but I don't know to tell the truth.

Has anyone had anything similar and would you suggest any leak fix products or just buy a new seal anyway ?

Thanks for reading!

Mine did that but rust was so bad underneath that I got a new hatch from florida, I then got a new seal from JK but it was such a pig to fit, I ended up taking it to a windscreen company even they struggled. The long and the short is that it does still leak a little under the seal lips but does not come inside. Great!!!! but it is rusting my new tailgate. I have since been told that some seals are better than others and JK's are not the best. I'm not sure if brickwerks do them? But definately change the seal and mend what you find underneath!!

Well before I brought it, it had a windows out rebuild and paint. Maybe the old seal was used and it's just not up the job, I think I'll look into the joys of replacing that then!

Thanks for the info :lol:

Hi
Follow the advise from Metalmick8y ( I did) and get your screen seals from Chris at http://www.volkswagenemporium.co.uk/shop/contact.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I had bought seals from jk and they were awfull, I complained and they gave a full refund and paid for the return postage
I bought front and rear screen seals from Chris and they are top quality, really easy to fit ( well anything would be after wrestling with jk seals)
And they are not expensive
Cheers
