Sliding door problems

I have a couple of issues with my sliding door. Who doesn't I know but there doing my head in and am scared tk use it. First problem is the actual opening, when I push the handle down the door doesn't pop out but sticks in and I have to pull the rear out to get it to slide. Then sometimes it comes out of the track at the bottom. I have sourced a new roller as the old one fell of at the bottom but problems still there.

Is this cut out supposed to be there??

Any ideas to fix either problem would be great. Thanks

There are two types of sliding door on these so you need to tell us which year yours was built.
On my van, which is a later model, the centre arm that secures into the back of the doors is spring loaded so it kicks the door open so as to allow it to slide back. Check yours, if the same, to see if the spring is either seized or broken.

The lower runner looks to have been cut which it shouldn't be. Maybe done to remove the bearing?

It's an early model with the metal cap instead of bearing. I thought it looked odd. Maybe have to weld small section in.

Will have a look for a spring when the wind calms down. Cheers mate

Could anyone with early sliding door please have a quick peek and see if there is a cut out in theirs?
As still scared to open the door.

Do you have two rubber bump stops still attached, one at the end of the top runner and one at the end of the bottom runner. My door fell off this year and I found that I was missing the rubber bump stops. I have an early sliding door too, the back does pop out when you open it and it is spring loaded just like the later doors.

If the bump stops are missing the door can travel too far back and the rollers can pop out of the cut out that is there to enable the door to be taken off for repair etc. There is a very good thread on here somewhere by Metal Mickey I think about how to correctly adjust your sliding door.

Ah I see will check out the bump stops. Are they at the side near front? My door comes off as soon as you open it from the front of the lower track. Didn't realise there was a cut out at rear so guess the front cut out shouldn't be there?

Thanks for the reply

Hi I have checked my lower track today and there is a cut out identical to yours at the front. The bump stops should be at the rear, you should also have a small rubber bump stop on the front of the sliding door itself (in the middle)

Your catch at the bottom should have two rollers one vertical and one horizontal cheap from Brickwerks

Thanks for that mate. Sorted the roller out there good. Will double check the bump stop bit sure it's there.

Found out why the door isn't popping open.

Ordered a new spring retainer from jk. (Good job as didn't fancy shelling out 70-100 quid for a new hinge) Maybe this will pull the door into correct position preventing it from coming out of the track.

Again thanks for checking that pal as was considering welding in a patch tomorrow.
