Handbrake

Hello

Today I had to park on a hill, I pulled on the handbrake as usual but my van rolled back so I pulled the handbrake harder, right to the top - which seemed to work (i left it in gear too ..... Just in case).

Now when I drive around I've got a squeak from the rear of the van and my handbrake lever seems looser than normal. Anyone got any ideas what I've done this time?

Brokeitagain.com - but I've found braking it helps me learn

Regards
Aaron

when was the last time your van was serviced?

at last inspection you would of seen if anything was wearing out

may be an idea to pull the rear drums apart , or pay someone if you dont know what your looking at?

Brake adjuster ineffective, lining wear at limit ...or failure of adjuster.

I would buy some new shoes and a couple of wheel cylinders...
Strip them down bleed and re set.

ineffective brakes can kill

Yup ^^^^^ minimum brake strip to examine and determine what needs changing...just remember not to adjust the handbrake at the cables before having first set the adjusters on the shoes.
Correct procedure is to slacken off the handbrake cables to ensure the handbrake lever (on the brake shoes) returns to it's resting position. After you have done this adjust at the shoes until they bind, then back off until they run free (4-5 bongs) notches....then adjust the cables.
