I'm trying to find out the specification of a component inside the Eberspacher controller (the rectangular panel with 3 way rocker switch and rotory dial) mounted above the ashtray, O/S/R rock and roll seat.
I've already had the controller in bits and what I know so far is that the part I'm looking at is a rotory potentiometer...it has 220 stamped on it but nothing else...so from this I'm guessing it's a preset 220 ohm trimmer style.
I'm also guessing the working value will be 15volts.
As you can see... a lot of guessing...so do any of you guys have more info (wiring diagrams etc) on the petrol ebbers fitted to the late California/Atlantic.
The part is something like:

220 ohms will be in the right area for a 12v one, I have a 24v volt two switch position one here and the pot is 5 ohm (but is for the 5Kw heaters) but several rheostats are 100 ohms. Did you check it out with a meter?
What model heater is it?

I had it reading between 60 - 180 ohms depending on where I placed the control.....point is, does the 15 volt replacement look about right...there is a 10 volt version but that's obviously too low.
I've not worked it out yet but I'm guessing the highest figure of 180 ohms is because it's a 15volt unit working at around 12.7 volts (fully charged leisure)
The fault is irratic clicking in/out of the relay, which led me to believe that the pot contacts aren't making a precise connection.
The resistor quadrant looked to be carbon as with the link on ebay. I was just hoping for a definitive potentiometer value from an Ebber diagram ie: resistor variable 220 ohm 15 volts....so at least the old one could be changed like for like just to eliminate it out the equation.

Can't get hold of circuit diagrams
I would go with the 15v one and suck it and see - if it doesn't cure it you could always revert to the original.
My money would be on a dry solder joint somewhere, given the age and use these heaters have had that is one of my first suspicions. I have had a lot of Webasto ecus with this problem. Presumably you have a heater with the separate silver ecu?

Thanks mate, I really appreciate your input.....the thing that pulls me towards this part is that the clicking occurs more when the dial is touched. My electronic knowledge is minimal...I know the basics and the logic seems right, however, I will be paying particular attention to dry joints, I think I might just re-heat and add to anything that looks remotely suspect.
