ej22 Running a bit rich, any ideas

hi all
I completed an ej22 conversion a few months ago, Everything is working fine and it runs smoothly. The only problem I have is that it is running rich as you can smell it and the mot came back with an O2 reading of 1.90% where my mates reading was only 0.46 when the engine was in his bus.
I have got a spare MAF which I will try when I get back from work on tuesday but my other concern is weather or not it could be the O2 sensor in the exhaust isnt picking up properly.
Thanks for reply
no fault code but changed the lamba sensor anyway witch made no difference. I am wondering if I have got the lamba to far away form engine as the exhaust gasses have to travel aprox 1000mm before hitting lamba. Only reason I say that is I heard they have to get upto about 300 degrees to operate correctly unless I am mistaken.
Im thinking of moving it closer to the engine but then it will only be reading from one manifold as I have a twin exit tvr exhaust and the two manifolds feed in each side. but iv been told it is ok to go from one manifold.
I also have a spare MAF and again no difference.
would the cooland temp sensor bring up a code?
No cat either but neither did my mates when he had it
Any advice etc would be great
Thanks
