That is some really impressive bodywork considering the condition it's in. Wish I could weld like that.

He only took it in to get the brakes looked at....to be told the wheels had fallen off!

Aidan, do you know this vehicle? Is it another ex Yorkshire Water van? The tow bar cross beam seen in some of the pics is just like the one on mine.

My guess is that it was left on during the repairs because the (not so) captive nuts on the central fixing had rusted solid.

When are we going to see the Lloydy thread? Or will it be an expansion of the "Getting there" thread?!

It wasn't long ago, we (the T3 people) used to laugh at the work that was put into Splitties & early bays.
Vans like that ^^^^ would of been off to CJ with no-one else being interested.

:ok

Wow I was worried about the amount of welding on mine, but it seems nothing now I've seen that. Gives me confidence that everything will be ok :) Thanks for sharing :)

Madness.

Surely a re-shell 2wd->Syncro would be better/cheaper than trying to fix that properly ?

E D I T. Just looked at more of the pics, he's certainly got some skilz and commitment !

I agree with Andy, its madness!!

All that work and it will still be rusty! How is he aligning the rear arms for example ?
