Daft question to some .....but...

Does a Propex heater draw any current from a Leisure or main battery whilst running or is it sufficient ?

Also, as a rule if I ran it flat out for 8 hours how much of a full Camping Gaz 907 would it use ?

Hi there, not sure what you mean when you say "whilst running or is it sufficient" but the simple answer is = they draw between 2 and 3 amps (depending on model and condition of the fan motor). This means that an average leisure battery, as long as it is in good condition will run it for many hours.

As for gas consumption, this varies a lot depending on A) how cold it is and B) how warm you want it. The thermostat automatically switches it on and off (though the standard stat can be a bit vague, ask if you need to know how to tweak it). I once used mine on a 907 and with cooking and the fridge, I would say on a fairly cold winter weekend a 907 would only last for say 3 weekends, maybe less if you have the heating on a lot.

Try and accommodate a 4.5 Kg size bottle somewhere = much cheaper. Also be aware that the blue bottles (Butane) stop working at about nought degrees C (ask me how I know ) but the red (Propane) ones don't have this problem, but you have to get a Propane regulator (about £6 off Ebay etc)

For maximum economy and a visual indication of how much gas you have left (nowt worse than running out miles from anywhere on the Friday night ) get one of these SafeFill bottle link = pays for itself in no time (the smaller red one, currently out of stock is £129). Knowing how much gas you have is a real bonus.

convert to propane, just get a new regulator, the propex will love you for it and run on it
