Correct tyres for 15 rims simple answer needed

Ok the vans getting to the stage in the build where new tyres will be needed, at the moment she's on 225 70 15 Hankook these are well past there use by date.
Have been pricing Goodrich AT 215 70 15 but the local suppler has informed me that these are not rated for vans and as such the van will not pass the MOT.
Now just to clarify one thing Im over in Northern Ireland where the MOT centre's are all run by the local government, and are very strict on all aspects of the MOT checks, van's are getting failed for not having the correct van rated tyres fitted.
So what correct van tyres are you running and what do to think of them, its unlikely that I will be doing any serious off roading but would still like the option if needed.
Ive searched the site and Wiki and yes lots of you guys are running Goodrich so how come you are getting through the MOT with them.
All info very welcome don't want to splash out the best part of £500 quid only to have her failed.

Syncropaddy (Andrew) will be best to answer this one.
215/75/15 is the common size we use
Over here as long as they're black and round and have min. 1.6mm tread you're sound !!

round and black and 1.6mm would be great. Syncropaddy is in the South of Ireland so different legislation from ourselves in Northern Ireland UK.

14" vans ran 205 tyres with load rating 107/109, the BFG MTs are only 100, not something that would get picked up on over here though as stated black, round, legal tread and sidewalls no cuts to reinforcing
100 rating is just about enough for the average real axle weights, but it's part of the reason I mostly run on the standard tyres and rims and keep the 15s for the rough stuff

cheers Aidan nice and clear, looks like van tyres then with correct loading, and then at some point AT'S on a spare set of rims.

in that case I can thoroughly recommend the Yokohama 354, winter rated all year tyre almost as good as an AT and excellent on road, 12 months use very little wear and noise better than the Marshalls, I got them from Oponeo online, was supposed to be just for winter use but they have stayed on all year with no detriment

I second the yoko's.. I bought a set of 205r14 after seeing Aidan manage to get around at coney farm in really really slick conditions.. I went to croatia and back on mine.. hot westher pounding the motorways.. rain. Gravel tracks mud snow.. rocky tracks in the forest. Took everything I threw at them.. and barely any wear...
On another note.. 205/70r14 were also specced by vw and they have a load rating of 97.. if the tyre pressure sticker in the door jam says a 97 load rating.. then thats the min you ought to have..

The 225/70/15 tyres I have are rated at 102. What are yours? If it got through on those then you could try again

Well took the plunge and ordered 4 new 225 70 15 Yokohama 354 from Oponeo online £91 quid each Inc delivery to Northern Ireland, had to order from mainland as there are no longer any Yokohama tyre dealers in Northern Ireland. Will keep one of the best Hankook's as a spare.
