heater rotary knob stuck

bloody thing is stuck on full, better than nothing I suppose! I don't want to force it as it's only a little spindle. I've not had a good look at it yet is it easy enough to get too?

Doesn't seem good. Possibly fused inside?

Just remove it and open it up.

I love that VW made things components like this actually serviceable. What I suspect has happened is that one of the little metal bars has fallen out and jammed it.

The switch can be completely dismantled, cleaned, fixed and reassembled.

poss the start of deeper problem ?
if your fan is starting to seize it can melt the switch!

Absolutely right Billy....the increased load from the partially seizing blower as well as the tarnished contacts in the switch, both cause resistance and heat.

Bugger, i wonder if i can measure resistance across the switch or blower and check where it is on the death knell scale? Any thing I can do to extend the life with out removing the dash?
