Will an early-type DG SS exhaust fit a DJ engine?

I am learning as I go how to keep my van on the road, but I fancy an engine 'project' to really help me get to grips with how they are put together. I really fancy trying to source a DJ engine to play with/ strip and rebuild.
I quite like the idea of the DJ engine with the DG carb, and that would be my eventual goal.

At the moment I have an early DG engine (84) with a nice new shiny stainless exhaust from VW speedshop. If I were to get a DJ engine that I didn't ruin and, perhaps even, managed to successfully rebuild would my exhaust fit?

Thanks
Iain

Great news, thanks!

I imagine the less simple/more thorough answer involves me swearing a lot at bits of metal?

Good point re motors fitted with oil coolers.

From their website =

If fitting to the 2.1 injection [oil cooler presumably - John] a shorter oil filter is required from a VW polo.VW PN for the filter is 030 115 561

ok - so I have the speedshop exhaust on Ermie. She is a 2.1 dj retro fitted to the 1.9 ancillaries

Has the shorter oil filter.

No issues - no oil lights, no buzzer.
