Ive just purchased my first campervan and im going through everything checking it and there is a switch on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel and i dont know whats its for?
Its a 1986 T25 Hi-top Diesel 1.6 engine.
When i turn it on it something starts which sounds like a fan?
Also, i believe it is watercooled but how can i check for sure?

If its diesel then its water cooled ..
is the switch turning on the heater blower ( is air blowing out of the vents)
or is the rad fan coming on ,?
, get out of the van and put your ear next to the lower of the two grills , if it is the rad fan then someone has bypassed the rad switch

Some people bypass the automatic switch for the second speed cooling fan if for some reason it doesnt work properly, giving them more control over when it comes on.
You may find if you have a fully loaded hitop on a 1.6 diesel the engine may be having to work quite hard to pull/push that lot around. One vehicle I knew slugged like an elephant when loaded.

Thanks for the advice. Im guessing when it is fully loaded it will be quite a struggle. Im hoping to get a new engine put in late next year to give it more power.
The switch is for the cooling fan. It has been bypassed.
