Do the standard (non-electric) door mirrors come apart to replace the glass or is it a full new mirror? Any recommendations for glass or new mirror?

The mirror comes as a complete replacement. You could fiddle about getting glass cut etc, but new ones are not that expensive. Whatever you do, keep the tension spring from the old mirror to replace the one in the new mirror, which will be useless and much thinner than the old one. Unless you do, the new OEM mirror (supplied by Brickwerks or JK) will just flop down over 35 mph. There has been a lot of discussion about this in the recent past.

Best to replace full mirror as they become brittle over time and tend to break on attempting to split.

If you're replacing the mirror, the aftermarket replacements tend have a weaker spring fitted, resulting in the new ones folding in at anything over 60MPH. So best take the spring off the old one, cos it just might be a good deal stronger than the aftermarket ones. There has been plenty of discussion on here in the past about cures for folding mirrors.

Thread resurrection after recently trying to find just the glass.

I think it's a shame you cannot buy just the glass. The Brickwerks (quality) mirrors are £45 per pair + P&P. Mine seem to come apart fine and it's only the glass that needs replacing I also checked JK and Heritage etc but no go

LOL that bit made me laugh. My van has never seen 60mph.

I'm sure I remember buying a stick-on replacement glass from my local motor factors, but that would have been around 8 years ago.

Yes I found a seller (can't remember who know ) on the net that does stick on replacements. Might go that route but would have preferred proper replacement glass.

Out of interest, do you recall how much the seller wanted for just the glass? ECP have the whole thing for £7.08. OK, so you may have to swap the spring over, but that does seem good value.

That is really cheap for the whole mirror - some cheaper brands from ECP are low quality though...

If it is the exact same size it might be worth buying it just for the glass.
Those stick on "repair" glasses were more than those !

I suppose it makes sense - if it's possible to remove the glass from the new unit without damaging it

Never had trouble with flopping on my hagus branded mirrors when i used to have original postage stamp size mirrors

What do you have now then Cruz? LT mirrors?

Just for future reference = "Stick on" repair type @ £11.99 HERE and repro, full mirror @ £18.50 +P&P HERE and from Brickwerks @ £22.68 +P&P, but they only seem to list a left hand one at present HERE
