Some one said "is you rear wheel supposed to look like that?"........ehm no.....
As can be seen the trailing arm has rotten away.
Seikel.de have a cast iron spare for a second mortgage which I'll have to get, unfortunatly though they don't supply the bottom end plate the pig tail sits in... and mine is knackerred, as can be seen in the second picture....can any one help/suggest where I can get one?
Many Thanks

Talk to Dai for a replacement of complete arm using obtainable parts, at less cost than Seikel.

I've just had a firm kick up the a*** from Aidan about these. I'll get the NOS diesel ones 251 511 139B I have here back to the foundry on Friday for an up-to-date cost and lead time. Shouldn't require patterns to be made and shrinkage should be minimal (1:75 for aluminium alloys i.e. for every 75mm in any plane, you'll lose 1mm once cold) so they will fit OK without too much swearing.
I'm guessing 20 pairs as a minimum quantity.
Can't see why the 16" ones shouldn't be the same cost, if we can blast and Devcon a pair they will do as masters if there's not an original pair to hand.

oops,
i got these done ages ago at a good foundry 10 miles from me. they were £20 each i think but they would be £15 each if i ordered in bulk ( like 10 pairs)
i had been meaning to fill the copies and put the locating stud onto the one which was missing it and then recast the smooth versions.
just haven't got round to it yet.
i put a pair on the camper already and there are no issues with fitting with the shrinkage.
Lloydy's on the left, copies on the right.
the wear that has been copied from Lloydys ones is presumably the result of broken pigtails at some point? that was what i was going to fill so that further copues looked like they should.

and before anyone asks about the taper and thickness

Lloydy's on the top, copy on the bottom.

neither of my petrol 16s had them, i think they are just to compensate for the extra weight of the diesel engines.
i have no idea if they are any different to standard ones. i thought that they were just generally hard to come by.

ok may be a diesle 16" thing as the camper (14") diesle has "diesle spacers on the rear but i cant remember if the are cast ones or some kind of plastic/nylon construction. i am also quite sure that they are located at the top of the spring.

14" diesel syncros should have them too at the bottom of the spring or top of trailing arm really.

Got this from VW dealers in Bristol, I'm guessing it's ETKA but mine doesnt work anymore.
Seems strange there is a special one for diesel?, but Diesel or Petrol I think better than nothing,
