Engine misfires

Hi, my 1990 1.9 petrol misfires when accelerator is "feathered". It ticks over fine and is ok under hard acceleration, it is only under cruising conditions it has a problem. Not sure where to start looking; fuel or electrics? Thanks

Does it jerk and lurch when almost stopping.. just before the clutch is dipped?

Has the airfilter been changed, write down every thing you've done ..saves the guessing :D

Changing the fuel filter and checking the small cone filter on the inlet spigot into the carb are cheap and cheerful things which should be done regularly anyway

Hi, thanks for your replies. It runs fine until it is warm and the choke opens (closes?), after which it judders when at constant speed (whatever the speed). I have checked dist cap and plugs and am now thinking it is a fuel thing. I will start with fuel filters as you suggest.

seems like you have an air leak or some crap in the carb.

if you have no joy with the above, jack up each wheel in turn and give them a spin. the egg shaped one will be the culprit

Problem gone away. Filled it up with petrol and runs like a dream. Hey ho.
