Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a rant but it is what it is.

I am currently rebuilding a DG 1.9, and require information on suitable main bearings to fit an early crank in to a later engine case.

I contacted a reputable supplier who sells these parts, who you cant phone you have to email.

So i emailed all my details engine numbers, vin, journal mearsurements and exactly what i required.

The reply was wait for it .......I believe all the information you need is in the Bentley manual. ( Which they dont sell and i dont have a spare £70 to buy one. )

There is a decent amount of info in the Haynes manual however, with a link to there site to buy one. ( I already have a haynes, and whats in that is ........ enough said.

If anyone has a bentley manual and could please look up to see if there is a section in it about fitting early cranks into later cases i would very much appricated it, and maybe ask father christmas for a copy, until then my van will have to sit outside my house looking pretty.

Or if anyone has some useful advise on suppliers who may be more helpful to get me back on the road.

Please renew may faith in VW's and hope i just got someone on an off day - we all have them.

Pm oldiebut goodie for the link to the bentley manual
I had a look in my bentley and while it made no sence to me there is some info on journal sizes and colour codes
