Well the loom has two wires to the switch, the engine has been changed to a polo 1.6 td engine and that oil pressure switch has one prong. So I assume that the original lump had a two pronged sensor, it was still a 1.6 td.
The switch is on the top near the oil filter.
Thanks for the reply, it's much appreciated :ok

They usually only have two terminals if the switch isn't earthed through the body ie the plastic housing type. Do you mean the original loom or a replacement one that has been grafted in? Check to see if one of the two leads that you have is an earth - if there is one, use the other one only.

Never seen a vw with anything other than 1 pin oil switches...what colour wires do you have? Yellow or blue/black are the oil monitor ones...

Thanks for replies, I'm a shift worker so will reply when I can. It look to me like the original loom and the two wires are one black with blue tracer and a solid yellow?!
At present neither are connected.
Kind regards

Right...the yellow wire goes to the oil switch [normaly open] on the oil filter stand, the blue/black wire goes to the oil switch [normaly closed] on the front of the cylinder head [above the heater hose fitting]

Thanks for this info, it really is appreciated. When I'm not in charge if the kids I shall get back out and have a look.
Hopefully I'll find where the wires go and this little niggle.... There's a few, will hopefully be bottomed out.
Kind regards
