I keep seeing people on here saying "use plus gas not WD 40".

Why? and what is the difference?

Why? - the clue is in the name, Water Dispersant 40!
One is a penetrating oil the other a water dispersant.

As Oldiebut goodie says....two different kinds of products....however, compare Duck Oil to WD40 would be like for like.

As a penetrating oil, Plus Gas is much better, as a general maintenance spray WD40 is better.

I didn't know you shouldn't use WD40 on locks.

If you use wd40 to clean a lock you must reoil it as it will disolve the oil and then the lock is dry

Is it not better to use graphite powder on locks.

Apparently that is old info from when locks weren't built to such fine tolerances as modern ones - it helped to 'fill in' imperfections.

Spray grease is better for locks and much easier to apply with a nozzle straight into the lock....WD40 works for an instant fix but doesn't last.

I'm old school and graphite powder is brilliant for door channels.
