so yesterday I was driving to work and everything seemed to be running smooth :ok
I approach a hill that I drive up everyday...... this time, as I get to the half way point the van begins to cough and splutter :( :(
I make it to the top then she dies completely, totally blocking morning rush hour!
I franticly keep trying to turn her over, but she's just popping and banging so have to just roll her to the side of the road.
whilst at the side of the road, I check for the basic things, spark, fuel and air and they all look good. She is now sat on my drive feeling sorry for her self and I haven't got a clue what to check next. the engine turns over, but will not start, the odd time it does kick in, but this is followed by a loud bang and then it dies.
please help, its a 2.1 I dj water boxer and I'm hoping you guys have got something for me to try, because I'm fresh out!

This might be of use: https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Pe ... ittent_2.1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No experience on these 2.1 fuel systems myself though so I wont hazard any guesses.

:ok

I'm no expert

If it's not firing and then when it does it is lumpy and followed by a BANG. I wonder whether the timing has shifted? Shouldn't normally happen. Is the Dizzy done up tightly/is there any movement?

Is anything happening inside the distributor cap that shouldn't be? Assume all your leads are connected OK?

Final suggestion, now that the mornings are getting colder is it anythingto do with the automatic choke? How far had you travelled? Is it starting OK from cold?

Just some ideas.

i have checked the dizzy, and its tight and everything inside it looks fine, however im going to go over it tonight just in case.
It was pretty warm so i don't think its the auto choke, and all the leads are still connected.
its a real head scratcher, i just hope its not an expensive one!! :?

there's no choke on an injection engine...so don't look for it
this is a sensor issue
either the wire has come off it or it's give up
fuel filter ok?
fuel pump ok?

Haha no worries mate.

I just need to know the location of the sensors or at least the names?

Well I think I've sorted it, it seems that the ecu connection had come loose!! However, it seems to have gained a new problem, it now has a crazy idle! Jesus, it's never ending haha
