ATTENTION WESTY POP-TOP OWNERS!!!!

Is it advisable to apply a scotchguard type spray to the pop-top canvas in order to help weather-proofing?
Any advice appreciated.......

A good canvass should be rain proof on its own...I have a canvass tent and it leaks not till you touch the thing.
blurbb55 imported a thicker westy canvass from the states ask him about that
SCOTCHGUARD CANVAS??

I have considered the option of replacement but i've already patched a tear and stitched the holes in the mozzy-net, so don't want to give up on it just yet!
Scotchguard or something similar could be my saviour.

fabsil, did an awning in it, as waterproof as a water proof thing, bit smelly tho, choose as dry day, or youl ber high for weeks

i use this stuff on my soft top
previous onver of car never washed the car well and the roof was all green and dulled despite the car being a 53 reg
used the cleaning stuff and water proofer
roof is now as new
we used to have a drycleaners cheap and quick way to make material water proof is to use plain silicone spray

HAS ANYONE SPECIFICALLY USED A SCOTCHGUARD OR SIMILAR TYPE OF SPRAY AND WHAT WERE YOUR RESULTS?????

To be honest I wouldn't pursue the Scotchguard route unless you can get loads of it cheap, Fabsil is good for the job, done my old pop top with it and would have thought it would work out cheaper than Scotguard, I used the one that comes in a standard tin and you apply with a paint brush, but it also comes in an aerosol.

they sell tents and tent accsesories, and may have just the stuff you want

Slightly off topic but I didn't want to start a new thread.
Am about to take delivery on an 82 lhd westy - it's in great condition but the age is showing on the canvas of the pop-top. I see a new one is only £150 at JustKampers. Does anyone have much experience fitting a new one? I'm good with tools and think it might be easy enough - just looking for a head's up on any obvious pitfalls that might befall me...
