New battery = zig unit failure!!!

I've just fitted a new leisure battery. Unfortunately once fitted it seems to have blown something in the zig unit and now we can't use the leisure battery to ignite the fridge, or use the interior strip lights. As the battery is a direct replacement for the previous, and it only goes in one way, it's not the polarity that is the problem (I think..). I've checked all the external fuses on the zig, and the fuse on the batterly loom. Anyway, I'm no electrician. Does anyone know a motor electrician in the Sheffeild/ South Yorks area who I can turn to, to solve the problem? Many thanks in advance for any assistance whatsoever.

Have you checked the fuse in the feed from the leisure battery to the Zig?

Shame you are not near me, bread and butter stuff for me that is
If it was for sure connected up the right way round polarity wise, it is hard to imagine it has blown anything. Have you a means to check the voltage on this new battery, like a little test meter or even an indicator bulb and some wire ?
Oh and welcome to club 80-90 by the way.

Thanks to you guys for the assistance. It's going in to the auto electrician in due course.
