Help needed with engine part

Hi everyone,

I'm after some help with a part I need to replace on the 1.9 petrol engine of my 1985 T25 Caravelle.

It's the beige frayed vacuum hose coming out of the left hand side of the engine manifold in the picture attached.

I'm told it goes to the brakes?

Could anyone help me out with where I might find a replacement section for this? Apologies if this is a really naff question but I'm new to this.

Many thanks.

Not a naff question at all.

It is the vacuum pipe that works the brake servo, therefore an important part. It is also quite common for them to fail due to age. If the pipe is leaking it can cause the brakes to not work correctly and can also cause rough running due to air getting into the inlet manifold via the leak.

Not sure if they are easily available. I replaced mine with a very similar vacuum pipe I took off a Volvo at the breakers. Please note though, you MUST use vacuum pipe not any other type. Most cars / vans at the breakers will have similar vacuum pipes coming from the inlet manifold to the brake servo.

Actually, if you can, probably better to get the genuine article, I bet VW Heritage might have one.

Many thanks for the quick replies, I have struggled to find vacuum pipe online with any of the VW specialists, VW Heritage included. Cheers for the link to Brickwerks!
