foot step rubber wet

I have noticed that when it rains the passenger side (right in my case) foot step rubber is wet.
Window not open I've noticed the bottom of the door rubber is wet
Could it be rain rolling down the door and just collecting as rubber is perished ?
I'm sure one of you have had this so can tell me how to rectify.
Many thanks

Not another dumb question
Could be from around the windscreen, check for rot/rust in the corners and lift up mat to see if wet underneath

it feels like a dumb question !
its the lower foot step (sorry should have said) there isn't any water under the mat etc (that's the other side with the leaky windscreen rubber and rot !) no water anywhere else apart from lower foot step...

Check behind your door card. Could be water running inside the door and exiting via a damaged or non-existent waterproof membrane. Had similar on mine, although I noticed it when the door speaker could no longer hold in to the porridge caused as the door card disintegrated.

Without the rain, you wouldn't have a problem, so long as you didn't wash it

Swap with the other side door. Inner drivers side becomes outer passenger side.

might not be the problem but it is another step of the elimination process which can be ticked off, and its not cost a penny.

Remove door card and check that the membrane underneath isn't letting water in the door.
And the scrapers DON'T stop water coming into the door but the plastic membrane does. There are holes in the bottom of the door to let the water out.
I had a problem where water was entering the door through the hole in the bottom of the 1/4light seal (as it should) but it was hitting the door speaker which directed it inside the door card. I solved it by fitting a new diy membrane that went behind the speaker too.
