make sure your compression tester is suitable for diesels as a cheap petrol one wont go high enough

not given up yet, just done a compression test and they are all between 300-400 psi, timing and pump are spot on , i do not know what to do next

Unlikely to be compression anyway - I would be looking at the fuel supply. Clean out fuel lines, all banjos, check for air leaks. Banjo on top of filter from tank is first to get blocked with crud.

i have replaced all the fuel lines, i do not have a banjo type filter, i have a skoda one, straight in straight out
