Hi Has anyone fitted a stainless steel exhaust to a t25 and if so are they noisy. thanks

Brickwerks is a popular supplier of the standard (later = post 1985ish) system in SS. All the parts are available separately which can be handy if you want to only change say the silencer. It is quite expensive, but good quality and very quiet.

The VW Speedshop system also is also a popular choice (see HERE. I fitted one of these a year or so ago and I am pretty happy with it. They are a bit louder than the standard system, but not "boy racer" loud and they do quieten down after a few weeks use as some carbon deposits settle on the internals. There have been reports of one the silencer to pipe support brackets cracking but I think they might have modified it. Mine cracked early on but, as with many others, this has not adversely affected it and it otherwise seems OK. They are guaranteed for life, so keep your receipt !

With hindsight though, as our main T25 is a full on Hi-Top camper I think I should have paid the extra and got the standard Brickwerks one Mainly because they are very quiet and well constructed. It was a money thing

OH and, as usual WHAT ENGINE and what year ! (I am assuming petrol ?)

The engine is a petrol 1900cc dg.. year 1991 on a h plate... ive read on some site that you have to fit a smaller oil filter!

Depends which system and If you have an oil cooler fitted, Brickwerks one fits like standard Speedshop one I believe requires smaller oil filter but only if oil cooler fitted.

I have the same system but if I needed to do the job again would go for the Brickwerks system as it's interchangeable with the original system.

The L.A. Performance system required a smaller (Golf ?) oil filter (even on a standard DG let alone our DJ with oil cooler/warmer) and the owner was a total and utter p.i.t.a. to deal with and had clearly attented the Attila the Hun Charm School
