Hi,

After gradfting hard for the last 2 weeks with a massive list of failure, it failed the retest on emissions. The CO level is 7 and there saying it should be 3. Ive ran pre mot stuff through it, took on long drives, give it good revv before going in, full service, all filters changed. and still no good... infact it went up :-)

The guy reckons i need to see a tuning specialist. The engine is a 2.0 Aircooled running twin carbs... not sure if this is standard.

Any one advise what I should do or anyone in the northeast who could help ?

Check the choke flaps are opening completely. You can dis-able the chokes by loosening the three screws and rotating the whole choke until the flap is open all the time. Then weaken the mixture by adjusting the idle mixture screw on each carb. You should be able to bodge it through the MOT, but get it sorted properly afterwards.

Setting up the twin Solex's takes patience but it's easy enough to do with simple tools and following the right sequence. Have a read of this and try to get your engine back to base-line settings, don't assume anything is right when you start.
