Industrial Velcro?

Can anyone tell me what the proper name for this is?

There are a couple of patches like this on the back of the buddy seat/storage box that came with my van. I assume they are for securing the box to perhaps the back of the passenger seat battery box when travelling, but there's no sign of the mating pieces. I've seen this stuff before - it provides a very strong fixing, it almost clicks into place - but I've no idea what it's called and I'd like to get some of the mating material to fix the box down.

There is this stuff - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36x-SJ3560-12 ... 19e27273d4
Not exactly the same but.....

Have you taken it off to see if there are any manufacturers marks on the rear?

Thank you - that 3M 'Dual Lock' looks pretty close. The heads on mine are spherical, whereas the Dual Lock has mushroom heads. Another difference is that mine is rigid plastic pieces that screw on, whereas Dual Lock seems to be made of flexible self-adhesive material. But it looks like it's got similar properties, so even if I can't find a match for mine, Dual Lock looks like it might do the job.

No - good idea.

You can get adhesive velcro in rolls. I use if for holding lots of stuff in place. Probably need a slightly larger surface area covered but it'd certainly do the job as it only really has to prevent sideways movement as the battery box prevents movement under braking conditions.

What are you saying - that my van can't accelerate hard enough to dislodge the box?!

Haha. That's probably why it doesn't appear on this problem solving flowchart. I guess the solution to my problem is gaffer tape.

Just pointing out that it doesn't have to be mega strong as the maximum force exerted on the box will be under braking conditions, followed by sharp cornering with acceleration being a very very very insignificant third
