Has anyone fitted bolt on rocker covers to a CU?

How do, I have got a recon CU in my danbury and when it came it had well shoddy rocker covers never mind the fact that some a*** at VEGE had fitted the pushrod tubes with a lump hammer and twatted all the seals. I have chased my tail to stop it leaking oil and thought I had it all under control with new seals on the pushrods and gastkets on THE rocker covers. In the last couple of weeks that tell tale smell crept back into the cab of quantum on THE heat exchangers I checked and it was leaking out the rocker cover again. Well, swapped the gasket on Sunday and it is now pissing out !!!!!! I have had enough, is it worth fitting alli ones and how much work are they to fit? If you can help fire away folks THANKS!!!!!!!

Bolt-on Rocker cover

Chuckle,,,,,,,,IMHO, I'd be using new cover springs and gaskets with a thin smear of instant gasket....... But make sure you have the covers the right way round as they fit both ways, and one of them is the wrong way.

The thing to worry about with the bolt-on jobbies is making sure you dont over tighten the damed things and having two extra holes to seal each time you take the buggers on and off.

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,,,
