Hi,

I was on my way to the MOT station today when the front wheel came loose. My fault i didnt tighten the front wheel i used my windy gun and should of checked it but I forgot.

Now the bolts look like they have ripped the thread and I can only get it to bite on 3 bolts. Do i just need to repalce the brake disc... i.e is that where the wheel bolts into, or is it into the Hub ?

Any help appreciated as tommorow is my last day for the retest.

Yes it is a one piece hub and disc.

The most time consuming bit is getting your old bearing shells out and back into the new disc

Ah forgot about the bearing I'm gutted I've just had the bearings replace

I have 3 studs in and there really solid now, but two won't bite... To be honest they need to be longer.

Is there any tricks to get the stood to bite when the disc has lost threads... I just need to get to the mot s,tation for a retest. And I can sort it properly... Just tommorow is my last day for retest

Do you think if 3 bolts are in solid it will be ok to drive 5 miles

Better to pay for a new test imo than risk it

You are getting me a bit confused with your studs not being long enough and loosing threads in the disc...which is it?

I'm guessing that you are talking BOLTS and not studs? if so, how many turns do the good ones (wheel bolts) go in before they are tight? it could be that there are enough good 'turns' of thread inside the disc if you use slightly longer bolts....you need at least 6-7 full turns of bolt.
