50 shades of brown...

With some cream mixed in too. :ok

I haven't been on-line in much capacity over the past two weeks; mainly taking the advantage to spend a little time on Wally to take his refurb of the outside a bit further. The weather has been good over the past week here in Malvern.

So to recap we started with this:

There was an interim period of this:

But now all major holes and knocks have been worked on, treated accordingly, filled, sanded and painted.

Painting was fun, having read on excess the "roller" thread and getting to the point of ordering paint to change the colour, but we U-turned and decided the brown actually worked on the van - something a little different at least...so the decision was to spruce up rather than re-new.

With a close match from a rattle can for the wing the mission was on to repair it! The rest was painted using the roller method with the 2k paint left over from its previous body work exploitations. The 2k paint went on so well with a roller, far better than I imagined, I plan to redo the wing so it matches colour wise. I am under no illusion that the wing will need doing again - I don't think I could have applied more vactan or ACF50 to this section to stop it 100%.

The passenger side was also repainted in sections where the rust was treated and sections sanded.

The roof was looking a little tired so a splash of cream was applied (3 coats), albeit it hammerite....with a brush!!

At this point I was more interested to see the colour and affect, which works well and obviously matches the surrounds on the back windows, so will it will be rollered in the future. But on a whole the finish is actually alright. :ok

So all being said this is how Wally now looks and will stay with some minor additions in the future. :)

I wonder if water running off the roof and then leaking through from the aerial hole has caused that rust in the front panel by the door, may be worth sealing it up to slow down the future deteriation :D

Looks like a giant bar of chocolate . Looks like same conversion as mine , or is mine the same as yours  good work on the reprint but keep an eye on the areas with the filler as the dreaded rust had a habit of coming back  . Daz

Yes Dazco ours is an autosleeper too. VT20 if I remember correctly? :?:

I think the water has been getting into the panel via the aerial hole too itchyfeet, in previous years the van has been sat for a while, maybe not in the best of loved conditions. I've treated all the area to ACF50 and Vactan so I hope it will act as a barrier and help stem it for a while as well as sealing it up. But I do expect it to come back and the only way to stop it would be to replace that part of the panel.
