Hi all. Just got a battery and popped it in. Straight from the box it read 12.5v,when I start the van the voltage doesnt change. Should it start charging immediately? Have looked in the Wiki but couldn't find an answer

Split charge obviously not working. With engine running leisure and starter battery voltage should read more or less the same as they're connected together via the split charge, in the region of 13v - 14v depending on alternator.

I hope you haven't exchanged a perfectly good battery

Thanks once again. I don't know how but the relay had become unattached, it's a bit embarrassing that I hadn't checked it before coming on here. Fortunately I need a battery for the car and this will fit perfectly.
