I have an early '85 Syncro with a 1.9 DG engine. Does anyone know where I can find two exhaust parts like the ones highlighted in yellow on the image attached? They are cast iron and mine are so damaged I can't get a good mating surface for the components and the van sounds like a Stuka. If they are completely unobtainable has anyone got round it in another way? Has anyone fitted a new late 85 onwards exhaust system to an early DG syncro?

yes - I have looked, but the BW syncro components are all late 85 onwards. The standard van doesn't use this part. I did wonder if anyone had fitted a later exhaust system to an early van. I think the engine mount is different on the later vans?

Very obsolete.
I have some samples here I've just got back from the pattern makers.
The tooling to make them is in the £1000's.
To pay for the tooling and make a batch and re-coup my costs would make the parts unaffordable.
I'm just looking at getting them fabricated next.
It won't be quick, or cheap.

ok - thanks for info. So for MOT gonna have to think again. Has anyone fitted a later exhaust, steel or stainless to an early DG Syncro? There are two problems I think - one is an engine mount for the heavier system and the second is the position of the thermostat housing (moved front to rear)? Anything else?

Just take the off, I ended up doing that with mine and running it as a 2wd drive exhaust. I've never caught it on anything (the wife has ripped two tailpipes on a step outside my house) and never flooded it when wading.

Ok - that sounds like a plan - hadn't thought of that - sounds cheap and simple.
