Hi

The dreaded F11 fault again!

Even though my battery is fully charged - via the ctek charger I have - I'm getting this fault.

However, if the battery is fully charged but still plugged in to the Ctek the heater works and belts the heat out.....

Dodgy battery? Is there any way of reliably testing battery at home?

You're going to have to stretch I can't reach that far.

Eberspächer what?
Check your wiring, dodgy earth most likely candidate although could be any join giving high resistance.. Is it earthed to the battery or chassis?
Fully charged battery voltage is.....?

Thanks Oldie - should really have asked the question - what else might it be? It is an D2 Airtronic.

Just taken it off the charger (on the frost setting to give it a bit more oomph) and the voltage was 14.94. Turned the heater on and (unlike the last three days) it is now working. the voltage dropped to 13.48 as it was heating up. Now steadily running at full whack for ten minutes the reading is 13.8. That sounds pretty good to me....?

It is earthed back to the battery. There are several joins along this cable (both positive and negative cable) so my thinking is to renew the cable to the battery and see if that solves it.

You are better off not having any unnecessary joins anywhere! Any one could be a problem, I lost 0.2v in a 6 inch length of wire due to a corroded crimp on a terminal - several of these can soon mount up to a serious voltage drop in a length of wire. 3 of these on both earth and positive and you have lost 1.2v!

Sounds as if it's a dicky battery. If the charger really is shoving out 15v, then it's far from impossible that it's boiled the battery if it's been left on over time. I'm very surprised if it's holding 13.5v+ off charge. I wonder if the meter's a bit off...?

Problem found! In the interest of helping others....

I tested the voltage at the connector block on the wiring loom (heater side) and the voltage was still reading 13v with the heater on (even two days later on the battery with no extra charge). As I was rummaging around the connections the heater stopped working - I think the fault is in the positive/negative connection block - there was a lot of heat in the block... tried starting again and wobbled the connector - the heater stopped. Time renew some wiring/ connector blocks and hopefully solve the problem.
