Hi all. Iv'e got a rather strange one here for you that i hope you may be able to help with, ive checked clean reatached and made good all the earths i know of, the fuse box and its fuses all seem ok the van starts realy well and run's great and everything that should work does, apart from the fridge its never worked since i bought the van.
The thing is it wil drive anything up to around 25 miles then suddenly cut out the electrical stuff still all works but the engine wont. It will start run a little lumpy then cut out, while it runs rough there is no eccelerator then after about ten minutes all is fine again and off you go as though nothing ever went wrong. Its had a new coil (from just campers) a new air flow meter all earths checked cleaned and renewed as neaded. Im goi bald tearing my hair out and even my local vw expert is. Confused. Thank's guys.Ant.

Which engine? AFM suggests injection suggests 2.1WBX, but DJ or SS/MV?

Almost certainly something breaking down as it gets hot.

Does it smell rich and run badly before it cuts out?

Is there a spark when it's failing to start?

When did you last replace the fuel filter?..

It does'nt smell or run rough before it cuts out it just cuts out with no warning it could be after 4 or 24 miles you just cant tell. Its a 2.1i dj engine.. And i totaly forgot about the fuel filter.do you think changing the filter will help

Well...how long a story do you want? I went through the whole FI system,fuel pressure etc before replacing the filter!!.
Easy things first!..
